Rizwana A. Mundewadi is a freelance artist based at Thane near Mumbai. She is a graduate in Science and Education and a diploma holder in Pre-Primary Teacher’s Training. She worked as a school teacher for a few years and also as a feature writer for a local magazine.
Giving in to her creative urges for drawing and painting, she started doing paintings on a full time basis. She participated in a few group exhibitions in the year 2000. Her full time demands as a mother prevented her from a full fledged career as a professional artist for the next few years. However, she continued her paintings to fulfill her inspirational needs. During this time, she also tried her hand at soap carvings, hand-painting trees and show-pieces and designing cards and posters. With a healing background in the family, she also found time to learn Reiki and became a third degree Reiki Master.
In order to better understand the use of colours, she also completed a course in graphic designing. In spite of her domestic engagements, she has managed to generate a formidable collection of paintings to her credit. Her paintings are mostly symbolic representations of religion, spirituality and Reiki. Her association with colour healing and the healing of chakras is aptly demonstrated in her use of bright, fresh and assorted colours in her paintings. Her goal is to facilitate harmony, good luck, good health, progress, prosperity and spirituality through the medium of her paintings.
