Aneeta Malhotra

aneeta-malhotra

Aneeta Malhotra's tryst with art began very early. Having lost her father at a very early age - she resorted to art as a self expression. She was encouraged by her mother to follow her own natural and perhaps genetic instinct. Her mother Pilloo Ghasvala was an artist herself, who had held exhibitions in Europe.

Immediately after schooling at J B Petit High School, Aneeta pursued a life of art and design, in various forms and disciplines. First came a five year graphic design course at Sophia College Polytech, Mumbai, where she won yearly scholarships. This was followed by a two year degree course to obtain a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) from the prestigious Sir J J School of Arts, Mumbai - majoring in photography. Her first stint in 'practicing art' was in designing the aesthetically sensitive and prestigious award winning Taj Magazine. During her learning there she herself was recognized, and won many accolades and awards. This magazine was instrumental in raising art and design sensibilities in the corporate world.

In 1992 she founded DMA Branding. The design and art foundation provided by her to the firm has helped DMA become India's largest design and branding house.

However, her true passion lay in fine art and aesthetics. She left the firm in 1995 and after playing mother for a few years - settled down to a life dedicated to art and painting. She follows art with a passion and is a regular at local and global art events

In the first of her series she draws inspiration from the serenity of Lord Buddha and his philosophy - a deep understanding of the concept of cause and effect, and the essence of the lotus sutra - spreading peace and serenity, in this age of anxiousness. She displays her versatility over a range of mediums like charcoals, pastels, oils, acrylics, watercolors and pen drawings on a variety of papers and canvases.

Her paintings have a paradox in both softness and intensity of peace and harmony - with an underlying essence of strength and power. Aneeta feels she should create value in society in however small or big a manner, and seeks to express herself in capturing and propagating a message of serenity, peace and her own personality of joyfulness .

Her works find their way to a varied international audience, global collectors and even first time buyers - as also she seeks to contribute to society by giving her work to raise funds for charity.

She is currently based in Mumbai and working towards creating a collection for her first independent exhibition.
