Arun k was born in Dhanbad, Jharkhand and spent his childhood days in the coalmine areas of Bihar and M.P. The earth, the mines, the laborers with faces full of coal and dust formed a large part of his early memories Having graduated in Fine Arts from the Benaras Hindu University, he has worked as Painter cum Media Artist in the Illustrated weekly of India of “The Times of India” Group.Arun’s art is dominated images of by women. Dark, black, rural, females keep appearing on his canvas from a very early age. He has often traveled to the tribal areas of Bastar and Santhal, simply to get glimpses of their raw beauty. Their power, sensuousness and problems agitate him. The treatment and themes then come spontaneously from within, evoking the sensuality of the female form with just a few brushstrokes.
